The MV Sea Hunter is taking a short break from her usual trips to Cocos Island to make some special expeditions to Silver Bank – a humpback whale haven situated 75 miles north of the Dominican Republic and 100 miles southeast of Turks and Caicos.
Silver Bank is known for close, in-water encounters with large populations of humpbacks that come here to court, mate, give birth, and nurture their calves before heading back north to their summer feeding grounds. This area is widely regarded as the largest breeding ground in the world for the north Atlantic humpback whale, Megaptera novaeangliae.
These week-long snorkeling expeditions will be led by Gene Flipse of Conscious Breath Adventures who has been guiding adventures at the Silver Bank for 19 years.
Each voyage will have a maximum of 10 snorkelers per skiff (and two skiffs per trip, with a limit of 20 total guests at any given time) – meaning that wildlife encounters are guaranteed to be small and intimate.
COST:
For the standard seven night, six day itinerary, the costs are as follows:
$4,295 per person for a berth in a Standard Stateroom
$4,395 per person for a berth in a Deluxe Stateroom
$4,595 per person for a berth in a Master Stateroom
