Hello! I am so excited to tell you about the trip to Mozambique I am going on in less than a week. I am going on an agent educational trip and will be visiting and getting information about all of these lodges.

Anantara Medjumbe Island Resort & Spa reopens with a fresher look and new Signature Experiences.  The secluded Resort situated on a pristine private island in the Quirimbas Archipelago recently reopened its doors following an extensive refurbishment to the entire Resort.

Azura Benguerra – New Royal Beach Villas   We are excited to announce that Azura is launching a new villa type: The Royal Beach Villas.

At 172m2 they are the largest of the villas, and are packed with features, including a 10m infinity pool and adjoining Jacuzzi that spans the entire front deck, a separate lounge area and second bathroom, two spacious outdoor relaxation pavilions, as well as all the normal features of an Infinity Beach Villa. They are our most luxurious yet, with fantastic locations and all the space and facilities travellers are looking for. The 2 Royal Beach Villas are located at the northern end of the property next to the Presidential Villa, with large landscaped gardens for a sense of total privacy and exclusivity, as well as 30m of picturesque beach frontage with magnificent sea views.

Nuarro Lodge is Open Again After an extremely wet season, the lodge has reopened after managing to get all the annual maintenance done. And the hard work has paid off, the lodge is looking superb!

Maldives: Whale shark by night/research trips – May, 2016 onboard Carpe Novo Explorer

A short story that led to these very special trips…
In Huvadhoo Atoll, in the South of the Maldives, whale sharks started showing up at the back of fishing boats at night to feed on the plankton gathered in the bright lights the fishermen were using to attract small fish. Sounds great, doesn’t it? Well, the fishermen didn’t think so since the whale sharks interfered with their fishing. The solution they came up with was brilliant – alert the liveaboard dive boats to the action taking place. So, long story short, liveaboards started putting up lights at the back of the boat to attract these magnificent creatures away from the fisherman. The whale sharks, busy feeding, don’t seem to mind a bit that snorkelers and divers are enjoying this unique chance to be up close and personal with them.

During the special Deep South Trips between Male and Gan during February and March, this activity takes place but, for most boats, only 1 night during the charter as the focus on those trips is on seeing as many different shark species you can see. That’s why it was decided to place Carpe Novo Explorer in Huvadhoo atoll for most of the month of May, 2016 – so we could try a few nights each charter to have this very special encounter.

Escape to the beautiful area of Costa Rica; Guanacaste and the Bat Islands. Guanacaste is a province located on the pacific side of Costa Rica in the northwest part of the country. The Bat Islands are located in a protected Marine Park inside the Guanacaste conservation area. It is one of the most beautiful island chains in Costa Rica and home to a diverse dry tropical forest.The Okeanos Aggressor I & II, focus on the areas of The Santa Rosa National Park and its marine sector called Islas Murcielago (Bat Islands); this area offers incredible beauty both above and below the surface. This beautiful Conservation Area earned a place in UNESCO’s World Heritage Site in 1999.

The trip includes three main geographical areas in the North Pacific of Guanacaste: Bahia Culebra and Catalina Islands Area, Cuajiniquil and El Jobo Area, and Bat Islands in Santa Rosa National Park. This trip offer guests the remarkable opportunity to snorkel, swim and play with the world famous Atlantic spotted dolphins, the most interactive and friendly population of wild dolphins in any ocean on the planet.

It is here, in the shallow waters that edge the Gulfstream, that for thirty years snorkelers have been interacting with an extended pod of friendly dolphins. Over years and generations this pod has shown an unparalleled curiosity and joy in engaging with people, freely approaching swimmers to happily cavort and frolic for as they choose, whether for minutes or for hours. There are no walls, no feeding, no behavioral conditioning or manipulation of any sort: just wild dolphins in their natural environment interacting of their own free will, exactly the way it is meant to be.

But this cruise offers more than “just” the chance to befriend the spotted dolphins. The area of the dolphin grounds is the boundary between the warm indigo depths of the Gulfstream and the crystalline blue shallows of the Little Bahama Bank. The diverse environment offers reefs large and small, drop-offs, wrecks, sand and seagrass beds populated by fish, birds, turtles, rays, sharks, bottlenose dolphins and the spotted dolphins. While our focus is on the dolphins (and we do get opportunities to swim with the bottlenose, too), we enjoy making the most of whatever comes our way!

Scuba diving is an option for guests taking part in this cruise, but guests do not need to be divers to enjoy everything the trip has to offer. The daily schedule is subject to change to best take advantage of the local conditions. Unlike some cruises which can tell you a month in advance exactly where you will be on a Tuesday morning, our thinking is that there is no way to predict whether that will be the best place to be on that day; you will only know when you see it! Our operational philosophy is that our guests are aboard a private yacht with a guide at their service with a decade of experience in the area who is always asking: what is the best thing we can be doing right now?

Our emphasis is on the dolphins: seeking them and interacting with them is our reason for being here. But when a good chance to meet their friends or explore their world comes our way, we will make the most of it, enriching the adventure for all.

Guests fly into/out of the international airport at Freeport, Grand Bahama (airport code FPO). Guests embark/disembark the vessel at the Old Bahama Bay Marina in West End, Grand Bahama, which is approximately 45 minutes from the airport and Freeport/Port Lucaya area hotels. Non-stop flights depart the U.S. from the gateway cities of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta. Fast ferry service is also available from Fort Lauderdale.

Swimming with dolphins and snorkeling/diving takes place along the western edge of the Little Bahama Bank north of Grand Bahama in an area known as the White Sand Ridge and/or on the Great Bahama Bank around Bimini .
