The global population size of the Harpy Eagle has not been quantified, usually this specie is described as ‘uncommon’, however in Sani Lodge is the ONLY place in the world where you can reliable see it. In Sani Lodge, 85% OF BIRDWATCHERS FIND THE HARPY EAGLE.
At Sani, in a regular trip of 4 days you will be able to see around 120 species of the 550 existing in the area. And this number might vary enormously for avid birdwatchers, reaching 250 different species in a 5 day tour.
Cocha Antshrike (Thamnophilus praecox) is a specie of bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is endemic of Ecuador. Its natural habitat are subtropical or tropical swamps. It is threatened by the loss of its habitat.
In addition to the many reasons why people choose Sani Lodge, we consider extremely important to mention the fact that several lodges in the Amazon have as an employment policy NO HIRE WOMEN. Also, in the local communities the jobs for women are very limited.
However, for Sani Lodge, each local person is part of the community. Sani Lodge has SANI WARMI project, the women can work inside the lodge as well, that benefits to the indigenous women to be included in the workplace community.
