Vatulele Resort
Vatulele Island
Vatulele rests south of the main island of Viti Levu and is a half hour flight by light aircraft from Nadi International Airport. A coral reef completely embraces the island which is seven miles long and three miles wide. Vatulele is the only Pacific island admitted to the Relais & Chateaux, an exclusive association of hotels devoted to high standards of cuisine and personal service.
The resort has fifteen bures in the style of Mediterranean villas that occupy the entire length of the beach. Each bure is nestled amongst natural tropical foliage, with total privacy, and its own stretch of sand, with a spacious sitting room, separate bedroom and all areas open to a spacious shaded terrace. Resort activities include tennis, swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing, hiking, paddling, volleyball, sport game-fishing, nature walks and even land yachting.
Although Vatulele is not a dedicated dive resort, diving is the most popular activity. The resort has two resident PADI dive instructors and consistent with the owners' general philosophy, the attention you receive is very much "one on one." Dive sites are easily accessible and generally within view of the resort. Some of the dive sites at Vatulele are: the Aquarium, Fortress, the Blue Wall, Turtle Mountain, Eagle Ray Pass, Manta Point, Poseidon's Stairway, and Labyrinth to name a few.
