Ossimba Beach Lodge
Ossimba Beach Lodge is a lodge right on the beach. It is clean, hugely spacious rooms and right on the beach. Tranquillity abounds, surrounded by Baobab trees, abundant birdlife with amazing views and snorkelling right on your doorstep.
This area is known as the coral coast and coral life is spectacular with both soft and hard corals in abundance. It is a macro photographers dream come true with the massive diversity of marine tropicals and coral species.
The lodge restaurant is renowned for its abundance of seafood dishes and serves the best pizzas in Nacala.
Getting here is a short flight from Johannesburg to Maputo (LAM airlines) with a short stop- over in Maputo. Thereafter it’s a 2.5 hour flight from Maputo to Nacala. An alternative will be to fly to Nampula ex Johannesburg with a 2.5 / 3 hour drive from Nampula to Nacala. The lodge is only a 30 minute drive from Nacala airport through the rural villages. There are good hospitals to be found in Nacala. The Nacala harbour is the 3rd deepest natural harbour on the east coast of Africa.
The lodge currently has 3 water chalets but an extra 4 are being built as we speak. There are another 5 thatched units right on the beach, number 5 being the honeymoon suite. All thatched units can be converted into family rooms if children accompany their parents.
King-sized beds are fitted with a 100% Percale cotton sheets and duvet covers.
King-sized mosquito nets enclosing wooden paddle fans.
En-suite bathrooms with double basins.
Private outdoor showers with hot water.
The honeymoon suite has a double bath, as well as a shower (please note that the honeymoon suite is the only chalet that has a bath)
Secure doors and windows fitted with mosquito mesh.
Uninterrupted views of the sea with private access to the beach and the warm Indian Ocean.
Hairdryers are available by request at reception.
By the end of 2022 a fully fledged PADI dive centre will be opened with a full range of brand new Aqualung dive gear and a 9m semi-inflatable boat. PADI sanctioned dive courses will be available in English and Portuguese.
A lot of the dive sites have probably never been dived and exploration of the area is still in progress. The area is rich in maritime history with historical remnants of olden day wrecks to be seen e.g. cannons. Some remnants date back to periods between 1622 to 1940’s.
